Ploughs, Harrows & Tillage

Primary and secondary tillage tools that prepare the ground.

Overview

About our Ploughs, Harrows & Tillage range

Good crops start with the way the ground is prepared. Our tillage range covers the whole job, from deep first-pass ploughs and subsoilers that break compacted layers, to harrows and rotavators that leave a fine seedbed behind the tractor.

Each implement is listed with the tractor power it needs and the sizes available, so you can match the machine to the tractor you already own rather than the other way round.

Buying notes

Choosing ploughs, harrows and tillage tools

Good tillage gives the seed an even, well-aerated bed and buries or mixes in the residue left by the last crop. The right tool depends on your soil, the amount of trash on the surface and the power you have, so it helps to decide the job first and the machine second.

01

Start with the soil

Heavy, sticky ground responds to mouldboard and disc ploughs, while lighter soils often need only a tine tiller or rotavator. Stony fields are kinder to discs, which roll over obstacles instead of catching them.

02

Primary and secondary work

Ploughs and subsoilers do the deep, heavy work. Harrows, tillers and rotavators come afterwards to break clods and level the seedbed. Most farms use one of each.

03

Respect your tractor's power

Every extra furrow, disc or tine adds draught. Choose a size that keeps the tractor working steadily without wheelspin or constant stalling.

04

Keep wear parts in stock

Shares, points, discs and tines wear out first. Order spare sets with the machine so you are not waiting during the busiest weeks.

Questions

Questions about Ploughs, Harrows & Tillage

A mouldboard plough turns the soil cleanly and buries weeds, so it suits fairly clear, workable ground. A disc plough rides over roots, stones and compacted soil. Tell us about your fields and we will suggest the better fit.
