About this product
How the Disc Plough works
Disc ploughs are chosen for tough ground: sticky, compacted, stony or full of roots. Large rolling discs cut and turn the soil without snagging as easily as a fixed blade, which makes this a dependable first-pass tool before any crop goes in.
You can choose two, three or four 660 mm discs, working to roughly 250–300 mm deep. Weight and power need rise with the number of discs, from 240 kg for 50–60 HP tractors up to 480 kg for 75 HP and above, so the plough can be matched to the tractor you own.
Choose the disc count by the power you have, not the area you farm: two discs for 50–60 HP, three for 60–75 HP and four for 75 HP and above. In stony fields the discs roll over rocks instead of catching, so repairs are fewer, and working depth of about 250–300 mm is enough to open most hard ground in a single pass.
Before you buy the Disc Plough
Choose a disc plough when your ground is dry, hard or full of hidden obstacles such as roots and stones. The discs roll rather than cut, so they cope where a fixed share would snap. Make sure your tractor has enough weight to keep the discs biting, and plan on replacing discs as they wear.
