About this product
How the Potato Digger works
This potato digger is best suited to small farms. It attaches to the tractor with a three-point linkage and is driven by the PTO. Rotating wings dig under the potatoes and lift them, and the crop is spread across the field ready to be picked up.
Compared with lifting a crop by hand, a digger takes away the hardest part of potato farming and keeps the work moving at harvest time. Ask us for the working width and tractor power of the current model.
Dig when the soil is dry enough to fall away from the tubers; wet soil clumps and slows the work. Set the depth so the wings pass just beneath the potatoes, and drive slowly at first to see how much the wings bruise or miss. Ask us for the working width and power needed by the current model.
Before you buy the Potato Digger
For a small farm or a trial plot, a simple digger with rotating wings is a sensible first purchase. It lifts tubers gently and needs only a three-point linkage and a PTO. If you later expand your area, a digger and spinner will cover ground faster.
