How the Groundnut Digger works
The groundnut digger loosens the soil under the crop rows and lifts the plants gently upward. A soil separation mechanism shakes off the excess soil and leaves clean plants lying on the surface, so the crop is easy to collect and dry.
This controlled action limits damage to pods and roots, which helps preserve both yield and quality. The blade-type digger with a shaker-rod conveyor is PTO-driven, has depth-control wheels and a heavy-duty mild-steel frame, and works at 3–5 km/h behind a tractor of at least 50 HP. It is best in dry to medium-moist soil.
For the cleanest lift, dig when the soil is dry to medium-moist; very wet soil sticks to the plants and very hard soil breaks pods. Set the depth wheels so the blade runs just under the pods, and work at 3–5 km/h with a tractor of at least 50 HP.
