About this product
How the Cassava Planter works
The cassava planter is a tractor-operated machine that plants cassava stem cuttings quickly and evenly. It reduces the need for manual labour and gives more consistent rows and depth, which helps the crop establish well on commercial farms.
Two operators sit on the machine and feed the cuttings by hand, while mechanical placement sets them at 5–10 cm deep. Rows are spaced 90–120 cm apart and plants 60–100 cm apart (both adjustable), and disc-type covering closes the soil over each cutting. It needs a tractor of about 85 HP and runs at 3–5 km/h.
Cassava is planted from stem cuttings, so prepare them in advance and keep them shaded until the planter is ready. The machine needs a tractor of about 85 HP running its PTO at 540 RPM and works best on a well-tilled, even field. Walk the first row to check spacing before you commit the whole day.
Before you buy the Cassava Planter
Cassava planting is hard physical work, and a planter takes much of the strain out of it. Consider the length of the stem pieces you use and the spacing your variety prefers, then confirm that the two-row layout fits your field. Keep a few spare discs for the covering mechanism.

Questions
Questions about the Cassava Planter
Yes, the planter is fed by hand, while the machine opens the furrow, sets the depth and covers the stem. That keeps the planting consistent and cuts the hardest part of the work.
