About this product

How the Compost Spreader Roller works

Spreading compost or sand with a shovel leaves patches: thick in one place, bare in another. A roller spreader turns that job into a walk across the lawn, because the mesh drum releases material at a steady rate as it rotates.

The drum is made of black steel mesh, which lets fine and crumbly material fall through the openings while larger lumps stay inside and are broken up as it turns. It is mounted on a green steel frame with a wheel at each end so it rolls straight and easily.

A tall green T-handle lets you walk upright and push with both hands. It is used on sports turf and gardens for top-dressing, and on small pasture and nursery plots to spread composted manure, sand for drainage or a seed carrier.

Before you buy the Compost Spreader Roller

A push spreader gives you an even layer of compost, sand or seed across a lawn or garden bed without scattering by hand. Keep the mesh clean and dry, and use well-screened material so that lumps do not block the drum.
