About this product
How the Builder's Hoe works
Hand mixing is still common on small jobs, in remote places and where a mixer is not worth setting up. The hoe is the tool that makes it bearable: the long handle keeps your back upright, and the broad blade moves a lot of material per stroke.
The blade is flat steel with a socket that fits over the end of the wooden handle. It is heavy enough to cut into cement and sand, and the flat face lets you chop lumps, pull the mix toward you and turn it over until the colour is even. Some blades have holes to break up the mix more easily.
The same tool works for mixing plaster, lime putty and even animal feed, and for drawing soil in a trench. It is cheap, repairable and nearly indestructible, and we supply it in bulk with spare handles for contractors and hardware shops.
Before you buy the Builder's Hoe
A builder's hoe mixes mortar and concrete by hand when a mixer is not worth setting up. Its flat blade pulls the mix evenly and its long handle saves your back. Wash it before the mix sets and it will serve for decades.
